The QuickSwitch® Model 6290 is a fiber optic Single Mode SC Duplex Interface A/B Switch with a Secure Remote Access. The Model 6290 allows accessing two separate Fiber Optic Networks or devices, ports A and B, via connection through a network device connected to the COMMON port. The SC Duplex fiber switch employs Micro Electro Mechanical System (MEMS) based single mode switches. Insertions losses are less than 1.0 dB.

Switch position status may be attained via a front-panel LED display of the rear-panel remote RS-232 serial port (DB9). If power to the M6290 is lost, the switch will maintain its position and continue to pass data. The front-panel tri-state red/green LED's display the current switch position and power status of the M6290. The LED displaying green is the connected port; the LED displaying the red is the not-connected port. Both LED's will be illuminated at all times while power is connected. The A, B, and COMMON ports of the M6290 are Fiber Optic Single Mode SC Duplex ports that accept standard Fiber Optic SC duplex connectors.
