A manufacturer in Germany needed to test their mooring systems, so AJT designed and built a fully computerized system to control a tensile test machine with four heavy duty Bradford Hydraulic Cylinders, each developing a force of over 5000Kn at a working pressure of 250bar.

The cylinders weigh 3 tonnes each and have a 510mm Bore and 320mm Rod diameter, with a 1000mm working stroke. The cylinders are of a screwed and welded construction and were designed and manufactured in house using "Bradford Cylinders" extensive design, machining and fabrication and testing facilities.

The load was then transferred to four x 5000kn Tension Load Cells designed by AJT Equipment. Each is individually calibrated by the National Physics Lab to within accuracies of + or - 0.24%. The machine was also fitted with a Linear Transducer to measure extension.

Ultimately the PC gives accurate data and plotted graphics using load vs extension units all of which are automatically saved and can be printed in situ.
