METEK Rotron Technical and Industrial Products has expanded its line of variable speed, brushless blowers for use in combustion / pre-mix blower applications with the introduction of the research and design work on an blower series.
The 8.9" Nautilair product series is the next step up in air performance when compared to AMETEK Rotron's already successful line of variable speed blowers for the combustion / pre-mix blower market. With a size of only 8.76 inches in width (less exhaust) and a max height of 7.65 inches, this new blower series has maximum sealed pressure capabilities up to 6.5 inches of H2O, and maximum wide open flow to 350 CFM. Units conveniently operate off AC line voltages of 120V or 240V, single phase.
Only seldom does a technology come along that allows designers to reduce part count, system weight and size, while increasing its flexibility and efficiency. Variable speed, brushless DC (BLDC) blowers with AC power input offer such a solution.
AMETEK specializes in high-speed products with integral drive electronics to control speed and add various protection and operating features. When used in conjunction with a modulating gas valve, lightweight, high-efficiency BLDC blowers provide designers with an almost limitless range of design options. For example, AMETEK Rotron's eight-product lines of BLDC blowers offer the following features:
- Compact size—Brushless blowers are typically one-third the size of many low-speed AC induction motor driven blowers.
Variable speed control—Two options are available: a) an internally adjusted speed control with onboard potentiometer and b) an external DC control that actively varies blower performance. The adjustable performance of the blower permits the elimination of complex air intake damper systems.
AC input—Although the motor blowers are DC, AC input options are available. Internal electronics convert the AC power to DC.
Reduced inventory and design time—One blower model can used to serve the needs of several different size and/or design burners by simply by adjusting blower performance output.
Dependability—BLDC blowers are rugged, reliable, long life and maintenance free (operating life of 40,000+ hours).
Low Noise – The low sound output makes them suitable for residential and commercial applications where noise levels may be an issue. Options—Among the design options available are onboard digital signal processors, unique flange configurations, DC input, and pressure taps.
