Abrasive filament is composed of heat stabilized nylon, which has been co-extruded with an abrasive grit. The grit is impregnated throughout the filament, as well as exposed on the external surfaces. Abtex has the ability to employ the entire range of filament diameters and grit sizes (46 - 1000) in the construction of Abtex brushes. A unique and flexible brush making process allows for easy customizing of brush specifications.

Abtex www.abtex.com fiber abrasive brushes offer the following benefits:

  • Fast working
  • Will not load
  • Follows surface contours
  • Will not alter part geometry
  • Safe---no bristle fly out
  • Non-oxidizing---will not react with metal
  • Clean
  • Long lasting

Major types of brushes provided include:

DISC BRUSHES

These tools are designed for manual and automated finishing machinery used in extrusion, automotive, powdered metal, fineblanking and other industrial deburring applications. The smaller diameter brushes can be used on hand tools for the surface preparation of a variety of materials. Our stock brushes include diameters from 3" to 27". We also have the capability of providing customized products for a wide variety of applications.

HEX DIRVE BRUSHING TOOLS
Designed for use in semi-automatic and fully automatic machinery, these tools are used in NC, CNC and robotic machine tools. Our unique Hex-Drive system allows the tools to be turned in both directions for 360° finishing. Typical applications include deburring, edge radiusing and general surface finishing. These are typically used in the following applications: CNC and Automatic Machining Center deburring stations Robotic deburring Hex drive systems allow brush to be rotated in both directions

LARGE DIAMETER RADIAL WHEELS
For machine based or off-hand deburring processes, Abtex radial wheels offer a safe, durable alternative to wire wheels or non-woven abrasives. Their construction and flexibility provide a long lasting wheel with less filament breakage.

Abtex composite core radial wheel brushes offer:
. Higher filament density for longer brush life
. Shorter parts cycle time and increased aggression
. Less filament breakage because they are not pre-stressed
. A virtually indestructible core
. Wider hub thickness with uniformly distributed filaments
. Balanced construction that reduces machine fatigue

Typical surface finishing and deburring applications in which composite hub radial wheel brushes excel include carbide cutting tools, turbine blades, steel gears and machined parts

Abtex has been the leading manufacturer of American-made fiber abrasive brushes since 1980. While customers recognize the high quality of Abtex brushes, they also appreciate their outstanding service. That includes fast delivery and unequalled application engineering support.

Abtex technical staff can design a brush that is matched to both your equipment mounting configuration(s) and your specific deburring applications.

Abtex Corporation has manufactured fiber abrasive brushing tools since 1978. In 1980, they introduced the first Abtex end deburring system for aluminum extrusions
