ACCES I/O Products announces the Model 104-DIO-48S, a 48-bit parallel digital input/output card designed for PC/104-based data acquisition. Offering superior price/performance value, this low cost, high performance 48-channel board features Change of State (COS) Detection on selected ports, allowing the card to generate an interrupt port by port. Since one READ determines the data, there is no need for constant polling, which greatly reduces processor overhead and allows applications to run more smoothly.

The 104-DIO-48S board contains two type 82C55A Programmable Peripheral Interface chips (PPI) to provide a computer interface to the 48 I/O lines. Each PPI provides two 8-bit ports on A and B and two 4-bit ports on C. Each port can be software configured to function as either inputs or latched outputs. Each I/O line is buffered and capable of sourcing 15mA or sinking 24mA. Pull-ups to 5V on the board are provided for contact monitoring. The 104-DIO-48S uses two industry-standard 50-pin headers on the face of the board, plus one ten-pin header for the optional counter timer. Included is a 1MHz on-board clock and three 16-bit down counters, which can be configured for event counters, frequency measurement or generating frequency or pulse outputs.
