Ahlstrom has recently launched a breakthrough filter media technology called DisruptorTM. This technology, for which Ahlstrom is the sole licensee worldwide, brings new properties and performance levels to the filtration industry. Made with nanoalumina nanofibers, this innovative filter media combines the performance of very fine filtration (such as membranes) with the flow rates of traditionally much more open media.

• Well suited for use in liquid filtration and water filtration in particular
• DisruptorTM has unsurpassed particulate, viral and bacterial retention
• Equivalent flow rate of a 2 micron filter.

The media is capable of retaining elements down to 0.025 microns (0.025 millionths of a meter). This capability is due to the unique patented configuration of the media, combining a permanent charge with mechanical filtration.

Although currently focused on water filtration, Ahlstrom believes that DisruptorTM will also have applications in air filtration such as HEPA, HVAC and dust filtration, among others.
