Product Announcement from American BOA, Inc.

“Racetrack” Bellows-Image

American BOA has developed forming techniques that eliminate manually welded longitudinal seams on oval bellows. The tubes are machine-welded prior to forming, utilizing the latest welding techniques and equipment. Oval shaped bellows are typically manufactured by utilizing round bellows that are cut in half and welded to straight bellows profiles which form the side-rails.

Special forming tools, combined with approved punch-forming techniques, allows ABI to form "Racetrack" bellows from round tubes. Oval bellows are equal in quality, performance, pressure capability and flexibility to round bellows manufactured at American BOA. This unique forming technology also allows the manufacture of oval multi-ply bellows, which are unsurpassed in flexibility and cycle life.

The photo here shows one of several "Racetrack" bellows with 40" x 24" inside dimensions, recently manufactured utilizing the above described special forming technique. The unit includes a 321SS bellows with 8 convolutions and a ply thickness of 0.030". The "Racetrack" shaped expansion joint was part of an order awarded for a chemical facility. The contract included metal bellows and rubber expansion joints ranging from 4" to 42" in diameter for various process air and vapor lines.

American BOA manufactures single ply, multi-ply and two ply testable metal bellows and rubber expansion joints for all industrial applications.
