Design Features:

Lightweight and compact, the ACTS cooling tower provides quick and easy installation. Job site assembly ( required on ACTS-100 and larger ) is simplified by the modular design of the components. Prevailing wind direction will not affect cooling tower performance due to the unique 360º circular basin and air intake.

The all fiberglass, PVC, stainless steel component design is especially suited for coastal locations where traditional towers are short lived. American FRP fibeglass cooling towers are half or less the cost of all stainless steel cooling towers and weigh a fraction of what they weigh. Roof installations are easier and less costly as they require less dunnage.

High wind and hurricane prone coastal areas can benefit from the very aerodynamic, round design that can withstand winds over 150 MPH. These towers originally were designed for typhoon areas in Asia and have become the standard for all weather endurance.

Casing:

Access through easily removveable casing panels simplifies cleaning and maintenance. The individual fiberglass panels are bolted together with stainless steel bolts. ACTS FRP cooling tower casings are designed for durability and long life even under the most severe environmental weather conditions, and carry a 10 year warranty against deterioration, rot, or breakage, due to defects in material or workmanship.

Frame Assembly:

ACTS-3 through ACTS 175 models use FRP fiberglass supporting structure molded into the basin. ACTS-200 and above utilize a hot dipped galvanized frame assembly for structural support.

Fan Blades:

Aerodynamically designed propeller type fan blades are used to conserve power and assure quiet operations. American models ACTS-3 through ACTS-50 feature factory balanced ABS plastic fan blades. ACTS models 60 and above feature aluminum alloy, adjustable fan blades.

Fan Drive:

ACTS-3 through ACTS-200 have a direct drive fan motor. Models ACTS-225 and larger feature a unique belt drive, designed to reduce noise levels to a minimum. Optional gear drives are available.

Water Distribution System:

American ACTS-3 through ACTS-60 use an ABS plastic sprinkler with stainless steel shaft. Models ACTS-70 and above use an aluminum alloy sprinkler head. Both types of sprinkler heads require little or no head pressure loss and minimum maintenance.

Inlet Louvers:

Non-rusting PVC plastic mesh provides easy access to sump while preventing foreign objects from entering water basin.

Ladder:

Provided for maintenance and inspection accessibility to fan and sprinkler systems. (Models ACTS-40 and above.)

Fill Material:

Honeycomb heat-embossed PVC is formed to permit high heat transfer efficiency. The American Chillers fill is suitable for operation with inlet water temperatures of 125° F. For higher temperatures, specify polypropylene fill.

Low Noise Cooling Towers:

Although the standard ACTS cooling tower design is quiet by comparison to other tower designs ( especially cross-flow ), ACTS cooling towers are available with special components to reduce the noise to an absolute minimum. These components include a discharge hood to direct the air flow & wind noise at a 45º angle ( ACTS-150 and larger ), a sound deadening mat in the basin ( all models ), and an anti-splash louver around the basin perimeter. Further, a low speed motor and low noise fan blade are used to reduce noise on ACTS-3 through ACTS-125 models. The ACTS-150 and larger utilize low noise fans with V belt speed reducers. All are thus designed to save energy in addition to reducing the noise.

Complete Cooling Tower Systems:

American Cooling Towers are available with tanks, pump-tank units, and control panels complete with motor starters and overloads for all motors. In addaition to providing a single point power connection for the system motors, the control panel contains a thermostat for fan cycling in cold weather to prevent the tower from freezing. Control panels with frequency drives for more control of motors and flows are also available.

Accessories such as intermediate heat exchangers for "Free Cooling" and clean loop isolation can be provided. Filter systems and pump stations are also available.

Installation:
