The largest inventory in North America for slitting blades can be found at American Cutting Edge. We stock all types of slotted blades, injector blades and 43mm "3-hole slitters". We offer all these blades in a wide range of materials, thicknesses, edge geometries and coatings. Since the converting and slitting industry is one of our most important businesses, we have a huge stock of blades that can ship the same day they are ordered.
Razor slitting is often used when narrow strips are required or when the application is need for there to be only a small bit of material displacement as the cut product passes by the blade. Through our sister company, www.cbmfg.com, we also supply a full range of circular slitting blades. There we have all type of crush cutting blades where the blade actually "crushes" through the material against an anvil blade. This application is used on harder to cut material where edge quality is not as critical but economy is. We also stock shear cutting blades that act much like a pair of scissors. The top blade run against the side of the bottom blade and this shearing action works well when edge quality and long life is important. Regardless of the slitting application, we can take care of the customer!
We offer these blades in carbon and stainless steel but also solid tungsten carbide and solid zirconium ceramic. These blades made of these more exotic materials will last much, much longer but they are more expensive and less resistant to breakage. But if you have a controlled application where blade breakage rarely occurs and not shutting down your machine to replace blades is a cost savings to you, these materials are excellent choices. We introduced the first successful solid tungsten carbide blades back in 1972 so we know a thing or two about their usage; just ask!
We also stock many coated blades, using TIN, TIC and Boron Carbide (ceramic coating). TIN is much less costly but offers a little longer life while TIC lasts much longer but the heat required to apply it makes it not as good for thinner blades. Often Boron Carbide is the best choice as the blades will not warp during coating and it offers a very long life. All these coatings work best in certain applications and we request you to ask your ACE salesperson for which blade would work best for you.
Sometimes we need to modify the edge geometry to make the blade cut best for your particular application. If you need blades with a single bevel, a double bevel or even a compound double bevel, we have the expertise to make them. Our focus is to make consistent quality blades where the 10,000th piece is as good as the first piece. Your need is not confined to one blade, you need to be sure they are all good!
For special blades, we can also help with low cost prototype blades and then take you to the next level, production orders. Please call us at 888-252-3372 or 937-438-2390f. You can also email us at info@americancuttingedge.com for a quick response. We look forward to hearing from you!
