Description:
The 9820 and 9830 provides an economical means to alarm on the high or low condition of a liquid or bulk solids vessel.
The 9820 electronics are mounted directly onto the probe for easy and compact installation. For applications that require the control circuitry and relays remote from the vessel, the 9030 employs the Arjay Pulse Module Circuit (PMC). This allows the electronics to be mounted up to 1 km away from the probe using inexpensive 2-conductor shielded wire.
On a rise or fall of product around the probe, a relay contact closure will be initiated for remote control and alarms. On a vertical probe, a differential can be set to cycle the relay on and off between two distinct points along the length of one probe. This is typical of pump or valve cycling to control the useage and refilling of tanks.
Additional standard features include an adjustable time delay (Delay On or Off), fail-safe selection, 0-100% differential, a DPDT relay, and a simple push button calibration to set the unit up. The unit can be calibrated in an alarm or normal process operating state.
Operation:
The probe, mounted into a vessel, forms a capacitor with the tank wall or ground reference. When the product changes on or around the probe, the capacitance also changes, which is acknowledged and used to activate the relay.
The probe can be calibrated in one of three states:
1) in air above the product, to alarm when the product approaches or touches the probe,
2) submerged in the product, to alarm when the product drops below the probe, and
3) with product on a vertical probe at a specific level.
For vertical probes with a setpoint along the length of the probe, a consistent material dielectric will ensure a consistent and repeatable alarm point. For probes calibrated in air or submerged to alarm in air, a consistent product dielectric is not required.
