Product Announcement from Arkalon Chemical Technologies, LLC

Custom Chemical Synthesis-Image

Arkalon specializes in custom synthesis applications where: needed compositions may be novel and no manufacturing sources exist, compositions may have demanding purity specs, packaging or unusual analytical needs, or a secondary supply may be needed.

Arkalon provides a reliable and cost-efficient source of chemicals to support its customers' product development and commercial manufacturing efforts. We are your complete pipeline partner for developing and commercializing complex chemistry. The company combines world-class, "single point of contact" project management with proven processes and procedures that support all stages of development. From lab through commercialization, we enable customers to bring their products to market in the most efficient timeframe possible.

In addition to its internal facilities in Connecticut, ACT maintains relationships with several small scale specialty synthesis groups and academic laboratories. These facilities have typical equipment for custom synthesis and product characterization at the laboratory scale. These groups also provide early stage scale up studies, including hazard evaluation, useful for process optimization. Pilot production up to about 50-gallon is available as well.

ACT concentrates its activities at this level on the following areas:

× Novel monomers and polymers for use in electronic applications.

× Specialized chromophores and other highly colored materials.

× Organometallics for catalysis and chemical vapor deposition.

× Other difficult to produce materials or those with rigid specifications.

For medium to large scale projects, ACT works closely with two US manufacturing affiliates who maintain modern, state-of-the-art chemical manufacturing.

Our affiliates' plants are designed for flexible manufacturing, both in terms of scale and compositions of matter handled. Included on these sites are laboratory facilities for synthetic route and initial process evaluation, pilot plants for process development and small scale manufacturing, and full scale production plants with kettle suites ranging up to 8000 liters.

Our affiliates' plants are managed by degreed chemists. The facilities maintain an appropriate complement of technicians, supervisors and scientists. Most supervisors and scientists hold technical degrees (BS to Ph.D.). Operators and technicians are typically not degreed but have considerable practical experience in the plants.

The plants are outfitted with the usual ancillary equipment. Cleanroom-like environments (class 10,000 or better) are available at some sites for packaging and handling procedures.

Located near large metropolitan centers, the plants enjoy ready access to an assortment of supplemental equipment and services on an ad hoc basis. Proximity to major airports ensures a reliable flow of raw materials to the plants and efficient distribution of finished goods from the plants.

Because the plants have duplicative assets, production buffering to cope with rapidly ramping demand is possible. Moreover, redundant capabilities ensure rapid restoration of supply in the unlikely event of disaster.
