Mono-, Di- and Tri-Propargylamines

Propargylamines are important building blocks in the production of several pharmaceutical active ingredients. For example, anti-Parkinson propargylamine-containing MAO-B inhibitor drug, rasagiline, has neuroprotective properties by inducing sAPPa release and ERK activation via the propargylamine moiety. Another propargyl-amine-containing drug, selegiline, has shown potential in the treatment of Alzheimer disease (FASEB J. 2003;17:2325-2327).

In industrial processes propargylamine-containing compositions are used for the synthesis of brightening additives for nickel plating and as corrosion inhibitors.
