Titanium Based Work Hardening Wear Steel

Astralloy Steel Products announces its new line of work hardening wear steel, Astralloy 4800. Comparable in price, Astralloy 4800 has demonstrated wear life of 475% to 633% over AR 400 commodity grade steel and work hardens about +70 points in service.

Also demonstrating more uniform hardness through the thickness, Astralloy 4800 provides better wear resistance making it ideal for applications in:

• Quarries
• Pulp & paper
• Cement
• Steelmaking
• Construction
• Agriculture
• Wood Processing

...to name a few. It is also suitable for all types of abrasion, sliding or impact, dry or wet media including high temperature abrasion up to 660 degrees F and can be welded by all traditional welding processes: manual, semi-automatic under gas and automatic under fluxes. Astralloy 4800 is also offered in the blasted and primed condition for those certain applications where surface quality in an issue. It can be processed with ease with or without being primed, so there is no need to remove any of the primer for welding purposes.

• Elongation - 12%
• Notch Toughness - 33Ft. Lbs. @ RT

Astralloy 4800 can be cold formed under the following conditions:

• No marks or scratches in shaped zones, edges and external face
• Beveling by grinding of edge angle, especially on extended skin
• Minimum internal bending radius
• Plate temperature above 50 degrees F.
