Firefighter's Smoke Control Station Design Guide

The FSCS is intended to be installed in conjunction with a Fire Alarm System or Heating-Ventilation-Air Conditioning (HVAC) equipment to control the flow of smoke in a building during a fire condition.

The FSCS communicates with the facility equipment responsible for performing smoke control. This equipment will be a UL864-UUKL Listed Fire Alarm System or UL864-UUKL Listed Building Automation System.

The FSCS does not connect directly to fans and dampers.

It is important to consult the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) in the early stages of FSCS design. The AHJ is usually the local Fire Marshall. Approval of the AHJ is required for UL-listed smoke control applications.
