DINnectors are simply DIN rail-mounted connectors or terminal blocks. They provide a means of connecting and identifying two or more wires within the demands of an industrial environment. DINnectors can terminate solid or stranded wires ranging from 18-3/0 AWG, and offer fusing, grounding or disconnecting capability within the terminal block itself.

POWER DISTRIBUTION BLOCKS

The distinctly different styles of short-circuit current rated (SCCR) power distribution blocks and terminal blocks support different application requirements. Finger-safe power distribution blocks are engineered to accept copper conductors and maintain an SCCR rating of 200kA, with proper fusing. These blocks are suitable for both factory and field wiring and are rated from 175A to 760A. Finger-safe blocks start at $8.25.

Open-style terminal blocks are engineered to maintain an SCCR rating of 200kA with copper conductors and 10kA for aluminum conductors. Ampere ratings of up to 760A make these blocks ideal for use in UL508A panels for branch circuit applications. The terminal blocks, starting at $6.75, are available in single, double, and three-pole configurations. Safety covers are also available, starting at $1.50.

Short-Circuit Current Rated Power Distribution Blocks

We offer distinctly different styles of short-circuit current rated (SCCR) power distribution blocks (PDBs) and terminal blocks (TBs) to match different application needs. The differences are whether the power distribution blocks are enclosed or not, and whether they are UL1953 Listed PDBs or UL1059 Recognized TBs, which have different minimum spacing requirements.

Why is this important?

• Assembly short-circuit current ratings (SCCRs) are now required in the 2005 NEC® and UL508A Listed Industrial Control Panels.
• Marking the SCCR on Industrial Control Panels (NEC® 409.110), Industrial Machinery Electrical Panels (NEC® 670.3(A)), and HVAC equipment (NEC® 440.4(B)) is now required by the National Electrical Code.
• Power distribution blocks or terminal blocks not marked with an SCCR are typically one of the weakest links and may limit an assembly to no more than 10 kA SCCR.
• The EPDB Series has increased spacing required where used in feeder circuits in equipment listed to UL508A (UL1059 terminal blocks must be evaluated for proper spacings).
• Also, for building wiring systems, the EPDB Series power distribution blocks can be used to meet the 2005 NEC® requirements in section 376.56(B) for power distribution blocks in wireways.
