NEW - 12-Channel Parallel Optic Module - AVAGO

Per Channel Monitoring Capabilities Supports High Density, High Data Rates for Growing Data Center and Terabit Routing Demands

OFC, SAN DIEGO – Feb. 26, 2008, Avago Technologies today announced availability of its next generation parallel optics modules. The company is a leading supplier of interface components for communications, industrial and consumer applications. Avago's AFBR-776/786BxxZ 12-channel parallel optic modules provide 6.25 Gbps per channel for an aggregate of 75 Gbps per link (up to 100 meters). An industry first, the 12-channel parallel optic devices will include two-wire serial interface monitoring capabilities for expanded per channel functionality and programmability.

Avago will demonstrate its new parallel optics devices at OFC (Optical Fiber Conference). Unique, per channel monitoring will be shown at 40G throughput conditions and will be based on the QSFP architecture. A 100G demonstration will also leverage Avago's parallel optics expertise. Both parallel optics demonstrations will be available at Avago's booth #2439 at OFC which takes place at the San Diego Convention Center from February 26-28.

"As a pioneer in the parallel optics industry, Avago continues its role in leading the SNAP-12 module space," said Daryl Inniss, Vice President of Communications Component of Ovum RHK. "With network demand continuing to grow at a fast pace, parallel optics provide many benefits over traditional copper connections in broadband networks. With an internal VCSEL source and long-standing experience in the parallel optics market, Avago raises the bar for optical interconnect performance."

In addition to the AFBR-776/786BxxZ, Avago also announced today the availability of its AFBR-775/785BxxZ 12 channel parallel optic module which delivers 5 Gbps per channel for a combined 60 Gbps per link (up to 150 meters). The AFBR-776/786BxxZ and AFBR-775/785BxxZ devices consume less than 53 milliwatts per gigabit and are based on the SNAP12 form factor, which provides superior signal integrity. With minimal power consumption, Avago's high-performance parallel optic modules are ideal for applications such as data center, high performance computing, clustering and terabit routing, and switching applications.
