Self-contained, with chemically-resistant 18mm cylindrical housings, Baumer UNAR ultrasonic sensors are designed for reliable performance in harsh environments where sensors are exposed to inorganic acids, alkalis, organic solvents and moisture. This family of high resolution, non-contact sensors is ideal for counting, positioning, measuring and level monitoring applications with targets such as granulates, pastes or liquids that can generate damaging vapors or dust.
The IP67-rated M18x1 housing on all UNAR sensors is made of V4A stainless steel, while the face of the sensor is protected by a chemically-resistant Parylene® coating and an FFKM o-ring to withstand aggressive liquids. These compact, self-contained ultrasonic sensors install easily and are ideal for limited space operating environments. With a maximum sensing distance of 1000 mm, UNAR sensors deliver highly precise non-contact proximity, position and distance sensing on sound reflective substrates regardless of their surface characteristics or color. Baumer UNAR sensors feature a teach-in function that can be programmed directly using a push button or externally using a remote input.
The chemical resistance of UNAR sensors allows them to be used in harsh applications where standard ultrasonic sensors fail over time. Dust-tight and suitable for immersion up to one meter, these sensors can be used to process a variety of chemicals such as chlorine and fertilizers; petroleum-based products including oil, grease, kerosene and diesel; paints, coatings and related solvents; cleaning fluids and other harsh materials. Other applications include chemical analysis equipment, laboratory automation, bottling and food processing, PCB/semiconductor manufacturing, specialty machines/equipment, water processing, medical production, packaging equipment, and industrial automation.
Baumer UNAR sensors are available in digital and analog versions. Accessories include a four character, seven segment display in the chromium steel housing with a 4…20 mA input that can be directly activated by the output signal from a current analog sensor.
