Baumer Ltd. offers the MagRes magnetic absolute encoder line, specifically designed for medical equipment and devices requiring extremely precise direction and position monitoring. Low-cost, compact and lightweight, MagRes encoders are ideal for imaging systems such as X-Ray, CT, PET and MRI equipment, where they replace analog potentiometers, delivering fluid, smooth movement over the life of the machine.
MagRes encoders are available in single and multi-turn versions. Both versions are available in standard 42 mm and 58 mm housings, and operate optimally at -20 to 85 C. The single-turn MagRes encoder weighs just 120 grams, and features up to 12-bit resolution. The standard multi-turn design weighs 400 grams, and offers up to 30-bit resolution. All MagRes encoders are zero-point programmable, and both SSI and parallel outputs are available. MagRes encoders can also support most major bus system outputs including CANopen, DeviceNet, and Profibus-DP.
The MagRes non-contact kit features a rotor system that eliminates mechanical failure associated with wear from moving parts. Non-contact measurement will deliver fluid, smooth movement over the life of the system, eliminating field replacement issues often associated with alternative direction and position measuring technologies. The highly reliable non-contact MagRes is available in a mere 15.5 mm deep housing, weighs in at just 50 grams, and features a 12-pin connector for easy installation. Additionally, the standard 58 mm diameter housing is available. These encoders can be used in multiple axis applications such as patient table and scanning head positioning.
