SmartReflect™, Baumer's world-first photoelectric light barrier, offers absolutely reliable object detection while reducing costs and increasing operational reliability. SmartReflect™ creates a closed light beam between the sensor and any machine part, eliminating the need for a reflector or separate receiver. The SmartReflect™ technology will detect any object of any color, shape or texture. It can even reliably detect shiny and transparent objects, including foils, PET bottles, glass, and mirrors.
The sensors are easy to install and adjust, insensitive to dirt and available in wash-down versions and very low maintenance. In adjustment mode, the sensor indicates when the received light signal is best for reliable detection and features one-point teach-in.
The FNDH and FNDR 14 SmartReflect™ sensors in hygienic and washdown design are specifically optimized for difficult applications such as those found in food processing or packaging machines requiring IP69K, V4A stainless steel and/or extreme operating temperature ranges. These EHEDG certified sensors in stainless steel housing have a long range of 800 mm using any machine part as a reflector, making them ideal for the 60cm wide conveyor belts typically found in food processing. The elimination of the reflector or receiver as a weak spot ensures increased process reliability.
Thanks to the SmartReflect™ technology, the sensor function is not impaired by contamination or process-related changes of the machine part. With fewer parts to install and maintain, a greater process reliability is achieved, along a more secure solution for the application.
Baumer offers three SmartReflect™ sensor designs: IP69K-rated hygienic/wash-down models featuring ProTect+ impermeability, standard sized sensors with plastic housings and a miniature version featuring a housing that measures just 8x16.2x10.8 mm.
