Aluminum Braze Options
4047 (#718) - Used in a variety of automotive and HVAC applications, can be used with corrosive (must wash off) and non-corrosive (leave on) flux formulas. Use of 4047 requires good process control since the alloy melts just below the base metal temperature.
Aluminum Solder Options
98/2 - This zinc-aluminum combination has been available for a very long time. Lower temperature allows for less precise heat control. Use limited because of corrosive flux requirement (zinc-chloride).
78/22 - This zinc-aluminum combination is relatively new. Melting temperature slightly higher than 98/2. Can be used with non-corrosive flux. An excellent substitute for 4047 when greater temperature range is desired.
