W.M.Berg Estimating Department

Accurately forecasting the cost of projects is vital to the survival of any business. The Berg Estimating Dept. is a "one-stop-shop" for your specialty needs. Be it a custom part or just a modified standard catalog item, the Estimating dept will respond to your request.

A good estimate starts with a complete understanding of the scope of work followed by accurately identifying the items of work in the project including drawings, details and or specs. This requires a thorough analysis of costs. With well over 50 years of technical experience, Berg estimating team can interpret the scope and conceptualize each machine required to manufacture your part, while encompassing all resources and their cost such as material, labor, subcontractors, manufacturing equipment and tooling.

Estimators collect and analyze data on all of the factors that can affect costs, such as materials, labor, location, special machinery, and duration of the project requirements. Job duties vary widely depending on the type and size of the project.

For example, on a special project, the estimating process begins with the decision to submit a quotation. After reviewing drawings and specifications, the estimator sends the request to W.M. Berg's Engineering department to determine the feasibility to actually create the requested item. Estimating than has the request go through manufacturing to determine what machinery will be used and if special tooling, fixtures or arbors are required. The estimator then gathers all this information, in which to complete the final project estimate.

The estimator determines the quantity of materials and the labor required to complete the project.

Once all these factors have been put into place, the estimator prepares the quotation proposal for submission to the customer.
