As a result of new developments in thermoplastic compounds, Berg has added a new line of durable, long-lasting thermoplastic bearings to its line of components. These new bearings are easy to install, have reduced operating friction and require low maintenance while still performing to levels equal to or exceeding other bearings.
A thermoplastic alloy base has been combined with a matrix of composite fibers and solid lubricants forming a compound that has revolutionized the performance and maintenance requirements of thermoplastic bearings. Under dry operating conditions, for example, these bearings do not need additional lubrication as microscopic abrasion causes continuous lubrication. Even when operating under extremely dirty conditions where dirt particles can become embedded into the bearing walls, there is little or no effect on bearing performance. The very low operating abrasion level that does occur during rotation, oscillating or axial motion frequently causes an increase in operating life when compared to plain metal, anti-friction ball or needle bearings.
Berg's new thermoplastic bearings will be offered in 3 different grades to allow for the most optimum material to be used in the most demanding design requirements.
