The earliest Barnes honing machines were the first-ever to make honing a practical and efficient means of finishing automotive cylinder bores in a production environment. As production requirements increased, so too did Barnes' ability to meet the need for greater speed, accuracy and efficiency. The long history of innovation has today culminated in a new generation of stand-alone machines and complete turnkey systems that deliver improvements in bore accuracy, surface finish, productivity and efficiency that were unimaginable just a decade ago.
Barnes offers a wide variety of standard and specially engineered Bore Honing Systems. Two of the most popular series include the MV Series and the HV series.
The MV Series, "quill" type machine design insures precise stroke and size control for producing statistically capable bore diameteres to meet any level of production. Modular in design, the MV Series can be used as a stand-alone single spindle honing machine or in multiples as highly automated, high production honing systems with individually operated spindles.
The HV Series vertical honing machines are ideal for high volume production of parts requiring close tolerance bore finishing. These machines area especially well suited for applications with high than normal stock removal such as diesel cylinder liners and others requiring superior surface finishes like pinion gears and connecting rods.
