Polyurethane

The results of the physical test performed on Bumper Specialties' polyurethane material are summarized in the table below. Please note, these tests were performed on hand mixed samples and the values are averaged. Values obtained from machine mixed samples would be better due to improved mixing and reduction or elimination of entrapped air.

The following were test methods done:

Tensile Strength, psi (g/cm2)

  • Standard Durometer - 607psi (44,082)
  • Soft Durometer – 750spi (52,730)

Elongation, %

  • Standard Durometer - 192
  • Soft Durometer – 607

Tear Strength pli (g/cm)

  • Standard Durometer - 214 (38,216)
  • Soft Durometer – 127 (22,680)

Hardness, Shore A

  • Standard Durometer – 60-70
  • Soft Durometer – 50-55

Bashore Rebound, %

  • Standard Durometer - 27
  • Soft Durometer – 35

Abrasion Resistance g/1000 cycles Tabor H18, 1kg

  • Standard Durometer – 0.016
  • Soft Durometer – 0.010

QUV (500 hours)

  • Standard Durometer – Slight Yellowing
  • Soft Durometer – No Data Available

UL-94 HBF Testing

  • Self extinguishing time, seconds – passes 66.6 not heat aged – 72.0 heat aged
  • Self extinguishing length, inches – passes 0.62 not heat aged – 0.52 heat aged
  • Burn rate, inches per minute – 0.02 not heat aged – no data available

This data is based on laboratory flammability tests and should not be used to predict performance under actual fire conditions. Due to the many varying applications for our products, we recommend performing suitability tests on the original materials before use in each case. Our applications engineering service is available for you to consult.

Adhesive

Application Instructions

To obtain a maximum bond, su:rfaces need to be smooth, non-porous, clean, dry and free of all debris, oils and solvents. Clean the surface with a low strength solvent such as isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) or heptane. Follow solvent manufacturer's precautionary warnings and suggested handling procedures when using solvents. Bend pad slightly grasping bumper on sides without touching the adhesive. Apply with enough pressure to ensure a complete bond. Allow a dwell time of 24 hours before exposing to heavy force or weight. The composition of this product contains no migratory plasticizers of any kind, which would mar surfaces of contact. Users should evaluate the suitability of our Bumpers for a specific application under actual conditions.
