Bunting Magnetics Co. has manufactured and supplied the plastics industry with an extensive line of separation equipment for many years. Bunting's Duplex Separator demonstrates one method for mounting both magnetic and electronic separators on extruders, blow molding, injection molding, and other plastic processing equipment by combining a standard Bunting Low-Profile Drawer Magnet and an electronic HS Metal Detector. Working in tandem, the Bunting Drawer Magnet and the Bunting HS Metal Detector are designed to remove all common metal contaminants from the product flow – both ferrous and nonferrous. The robust framework and integrated hopper suggest how these two separators can work together and still meet requirements for compactness, strength, and rigidity. The Low-Profile Drawer Magnet requires less than 6 inches of headroom. Its single row of three magnetic cartridges captures ferrous debris from resins and regrind. Cartridge magnets can be Ceramic, Alnico, or Rare Earth, depending on the magnetic strength needed to capture the debris you normally encounter. The HS Metal Detector-Separator is a compact electronic unit designed to sense and reject both ferrous and nonferrous metals in free-flowing materials. It features adjustable sensitivity and a rapid, air-powered rejection flap that is also adjustable to ensure thorough detection and minimal loss of good material. By capturing ferrous debris, the Drawer Magnet both enhances product quality and reduces HS reject cycles, conserving good material. The HS Detector acts as backup for removing ferrous debris and also rejects other common metal contaminants, such as stainless steel, aluminum, lead, brass, copper, and tin. Together these separators can eliminate virtually all tramp metal.
