Fluid Minimizes Foam In High-Pressure Medical Parts Manufacturing Applications

Medical parts manufacturing is a rapidly growing market. The high demand for medical procedures including joint replacements, heart catheterizations, abdominal surgery, liposuction, colonoscopies, and many others, have generated an increase for precision instrumentation. Reliability and quality are critical in the medical instruments industry. Therefore manufactures of these precision instruments are focused on finding quality products that will streamline costs and efficiency without forfeiting quality.

CIMCOOL has met the challenges of the medical instruments industry with their offering of HFP Fluids with FACT (foam arrest control technology). The combination of innovative product design and high performing raw materials these fluids produce less foam, which results in better lubricity and rancidity control than conventional metalworking fluids. Revolutionary antifoam technology for use in a variety of high volume and high fluid pressure applications makes it the ideal solution for applications that include high speed machining and precision metalworking operations.

CIMCOOL's Cimtech 320-HFP with FACT is a low pH synthetic fluid recommended for machining and grinding of ferrous and nonferrous metals and specifically designed for the medical parts manufacturing industry. Suited for moderate to heavy-duty high volume and high fluid pressure operations on aluminum, the fluid is low foaming, even when used with deionized water. It is easily recycled, minimizes the need for additives and is an excellent choice for central system applications. The operator friendly fluid provides excellent part visibility, fresh mix is transparent, is low-misting and mild to the skin.

Cimtech 320-HFP with FACT helps precision manufacturers in their production of medical parts and instruments through the compatibility of their fluids with metal alloys, increased lubricity for excellent tool life, ease of cleaning, improvement in part quality and finish, and increased sump life as well as excellent filtration. According to recent CIMCOOL case histories, customers have repeatedly commented on their ability to make gains in productivity from running faster and more frequently, after switching to CIMCOOL's line of fluids. Customers also noticed improved residue characteristics, commenting that CIMCOOL fluids are cleaner and that they like seeing their parts with the clear fluid.

Improved residue characteristics are extremely important on precision manufactured medical components that are implanted in the body on a permanent or semi-permanent basis and those that are used in the body for short durations, such as during surgery.

Simply put, on skeletal replacement or reinforcement parts, the hope is that once the component is in place, the surrounding tissue will adhere to the surface of the metal—literally grow on it to form a strong connection—like a weld. This critical union between body and part can be a determining factor in the transplant's success and is why the process used in the shop during production (fluid and subsequent cleaning of parts) is so important.

Quality low cost fluids coupled with highly skilled research and development has enabled CIMCOOL to develop products that met and exceeded the expectations of the medical supply industry. Continued efforts will result in additional advancements and growth in this product line.
