Long known as the OEM of Mykroy/Mycalex machinable and moldable glass bonded mica ceramics, Crystex Composites LLC is embarking on a new business venture by producing and selling "off the shelf" stand off insulators to be sold under the trade name MYCALEX^® Insulators...

The first of these insulators the MM50 (50mm diameter and 50mm tall) & MM35 (35mm diameter and 35mm tall) are now available. Other sizes will be released during the 3^rd and 4^th quarters of 2009.

This product line will target the transportation (railway) industry and the alternative energy market. Some typical applications are:

• Railway motors
• Resistor boxes
• Heater system
• Switchbox mountings
• Insulation supports for HF windings
• Mountings for trolleys
• Overhead switch controls
• High temperature terminals
• Arc separators
• Switchgear chambers
• And many others…

Produced using Crystex' proprietary formulae and molding processes, these insulators will share the same advantages as the other Mykroy/Mycalex glass bonded mica ceramics produced by Crystex:

• Completely inorganic – does not burn
• High dielectric strength & arc resistance
• Low thermal conductivity: Between 1-1.5 W/mk
• Withstands thermal cycling
• Impervious to moisture, oils, and gases
• Can be machined: drilled, tapped or threaded with carbide tools
• Ability to be silicone or Teflon coated.
• Inert to solvents, oxygen plasma and weak acids & bases.
• Operating temperatures: –175°C to 400°C depending on grade
• Accepts metal inserts: Nickel alloys, Copper, Brass, SS, Molybdenum
