CTI Electronics expands its line of rugged F-Series miniature industrial joysticks, the original IndustrialMouse™, by developing a USB device driver interface for pointing devices. The USB FlightStick offers real-time response rates with acute accuracy and high reliability. Offering complete freedom of movement, users simply plug-in and move the USB FlightStick in the desired direction for device control. Long-term durability of these joysticks, rated for over 10 million deflections, is achieved with the use of non-contacting inductive technology. All joysticks offer smooth travel and excellent precision control. The joystick's superior NEMA 4 (IP66) environmental sealing eliminates moisture and dirt contaminants.

These new pointing devices, designed for industrial and medical applications, are available for OEMs as a USB FlightStick or the ready-to-integrate USB IndustrialMouse™. These devices are also available for the end-user in a hand-held or desktop stainless steel enclosure. The USB FlightStick offers up to three axes of control, eight knob options, up to eight separate user-defined button functions, extreme temperature option, and a redundant safety switch option. CTI has made it possible for any application using the standard Microsoft HID and Sidewinder USB protocols to automatically recognize and identify the CTI USB FlightStick and button controls. The USB IndustrialMouse™ also offers up to two axes of control, eight knob options, a three-button mouse, extreme temperature option, and a redundant safety switch option. The eight knob options feature an extremely low profile from 1.4" to 3.1" above panel.

The joystick USB interfaces are compatible with standard computer hardware and operating systems. For added flexibility, design options are available including composite device interfacing for applications requiring more than the standard three axes of control and eight USB user-defined button functions. Ideally suited for harsh environments, precision instruments, and restricted spaces. Industries currently benefiting from the USB FlightStick include aerospace, automotive, heavy equipment, medical, and military.
