Caterpillar Inc. introduces a new line of diesel-fueled generator sets in the 2-4MW power range. This new line builds on the success of the Caterpillar® 3500 series of generator sets, a proven industry leader. It is powered by the new Cat® C175 centerline engine–the first to offer up to 4MW of power in a single high-speed package.
The new family of diesel generator sets provides superior performance, reliability and durability in standby, prime, continuous and load management applications. 12-, 16- and 20-cylinder models will be available with respective 64-, 85- and 106- liter displacements. Incorporating Caterpillar ACERT™ Technology, the new C175 engine design provides emissions compliance without sacrificing power density or fuel economy. An ADEM™ A4 Electronic Control Module, the Cat Common Rail Fuel System and cross-flow cylinder heads comprise the building blocks of ACERT Technology.
The SR5 generator––available in low, medium and high voltages––has been specifically designed for the C175 engine platform. The generator's insulation system meets Class H insulation system requirements and features either a traditional permanent magnet excitation, or a new internal excitation option. Two types of radiator packages, a horizontal remote and vertical radiator, are also available for the C175.
