Improving the Fatigue life of springs via Electropolishing. Central Electropolishing has state of the art, automated tooling available to do any quantity of spring in a timely manner. During the Electropolishing process the stainless steel is immersed in a heated electrolytic bath with electrical current passed through the bath at a controlled rate. This process is closely monitored and strict attention is paid to the variables such as specific gravity, temperature, voltage and immersion time. Electropolishing also provides maximum corrosion control in most alloys of stainless steel. The Electropolishing process removes the high points on the surface of the coiled spring wire and re-deposits a clear, chemically bonded oxide layer. Electropolishing causes no hydrogen embrittlement, coatings or residue. This bright clean, reflective layer helps retard corrosion and resists the impregnation of bacteria. Electropolishing greatly improves the chrome to iron ratio in the surface of the part.
