Whether in the pit, for crushing, or for grinding, Columbia Steel has served the mining industry since the early 1900s. We've grown in size and sophistication with the industry, and have worked successfully to lower the cost per ton of ore processed in virtually every type of mining, including nickel, copper, iron and gold and silver.
From the largest castings to routine wear parts, our expertise serves every aspect of your business. We offer you:
We do it all
Design, patternmaking, molding, coring, pouring, cleaning, heat treating, machining and quality assurance – it's all at your service in our large vertically integrated facility in Portland, Oregon, USA. We're proud of the job we do, and we guarantee every part for proper fit, performance and customer satisfaction.
Let us help you select the right wear parts for your operation
Most wear part manufacturers design their products for the "average pit". But few of our customers work under so-called average conditions. That's why we offer so many parts designed to do a specific job better. It may be jaws with special teeth. Or cone liners with longer sizing zones or wider feed openings. We know that often a small change in design or metallurgy can make a big improvement in your operation.
We get the facts
The first step in improving your crusher is to do a wear study. Your Columbia Steel representative will collect the facts on your feed material, sieve analysis of crushed output, discharge settings used, production rates, crushing liners you are now using, and what the worn liners look like when replaced. He will talk to you about your percentage of recirculated material, and any other problems you are having, such as blocking, poor nipping, uneven wear or excessive discard weight.
Over 23,000 standing patterns
No one in the industry offers more wear part designs for popular crushers. In addition, we have a large pattern department and a staff of engineering professionals. In many cases, we may have studied crushing operations similar to yours, and may have custom designs in our inventory or as patterns. In other cases, we can suggest design improvements for your plant's needs.
Alloys
Columbia offers a broad range of proprietary alloys suited to every crushing wear part need. These include our standard manganese steels, Xtralloy® premium manganese steel, alloy irons, and high strength martensitic steels. We also offer Xtend Process® high carbide overlays. These alloy options are especially valuable in gyratory crushers, where we can match the alloy to the level of impact, providing more even mantle and concave wear.
Your success is our success
Our philosophy is simple: when our replacement parts perform better, our customers prosper. Our goal is to produce the highest quality parts possible, and to give exceptional value through better production and longer wear life.
