COVEGA's SOA1013 is a polarization insensitive optical amplifier based on a high-power InP ridge waveguide design. The higher power capability of the SOA1013 opens new application spaces within the optical amplification market. Applications include single- and multi-channel optical telecommunication amplification in WDM systems. The SOA1013 is also suitable as a low-cost Metro EDFA replacement.
Advanced epitaxial wafer-growth and optoelectronic packaging techniques enable high output saturation power, low noise figure, and large gain across a broad spectral bandwidth, resulting in cost-effective, polarization insensitive amplifiers. The SOA1013 is available as an optical gain block, and as an amplifier module with integrated control electronics. Options include input and output isolators and photodiodes for optical monitoring.
