Cyril Bath's corporate partner, ACB in Nantes France has become the world-wide leader in the design, development, and build of custom Linear Friction Welding machines for turbine engine Blisk or Integrated Bladed Rotors (IBR) manufacturing. Cyril Bath offers this very unique and valuable process to any potential customer by conducting a series of collaborative technical discussions, ultimately establishing a solution for a specific need.

Linear Friction Welding does not melt the source components, it is a fast process, with low deformation after welding. Because of the innovative processing by Linear Friction Welding (LFW), it is possible to join parts of different materials and create multiple joined sections of a complex part.

Some of the advantages of LFW are:

  • Less material losses compared to flash welding
  • Repeatable process, easy to automate
  • No fume or spatter
  • In some case, no need of protective gas
  • An optimum welding process for titanium materials

Cyril Bath has placed hundreds of custom designed metal forming presses around the world that use our precise control systems. These hydraulic machines provide extremely accurate and dependable results in forming aerospace metals. Our CNC software has been developed in-house based on our focus for precision, flexibility for process development, and easy maintenance and operation. It is this foundation that has enabled our corporation's success in the field of Linear Friction Welding.

Following concurrent design engineering studies with our customers, our LFW process development work will lead to a custom designed production LFW system to meet a set a product requirements. We offer each of the step by step services of process development, tooling design support, and finally the complete turnkey solution, including the installation of an LFW production work cell.
