WATERLOO, ONTARIO — DALSA Corporation [TSX: DSA] announced the availability of the High Quanta family of sensors tailored for scientific, life sciences, and astronomy applications. DALSA's High Quanta sensors are large format area sensors that provide a new benchmark in imaging performance. Using advanced fabrication techniques to realize smaller CCD transistor structures, these sensors achieve incredible improvements in noise performance and quantum efficiency (QE); peaking at more than 75%. The new sensors also employ the latest designs in output amplifiers providing exceptionally low noise at high data rates.

Features

  • Very high quantum efficiency
  • Large field of view (50 mm x 50 mm)
  • High sensitivity
  • High linear dynamic range
  • Low dark current and fixed pattern noise
  • Low readout noise
  • High frame rate
  • Region of Interest (ROI)
  • 100% optical fill factor

Description

DALSA's newest 4 megapixel true two-phase CCD is designed to meet specific scientific and X-ray applications requirements for high sensitivity, high frame rate and large field of view.

DALSA's High Quanta series of sensors provide outstanding quantum efficiency in a front illuminated sensor. Back side thinned versions of the sensor are available on a custom basis.

In a 4 x 4 binning scheme, frame rates higher than 10 fps are possible. Flexible Region of Interest (ROI) feature makes higher frame rates possible without compromising on noise performance.

With its high QE, large field of view and low noise, the IA-DJ-02084 is a perfect match for medical X-ray and scientific applications.

The High Quanta sensor family is ideal for low light imaging. "In applications that are light starved, having a sensor that utilizes every available photon and maintains signal integrity through low noise readout is essential," said Behnam Rashidian, Product Manager, DALSA Life Sciences. "The ability to achieve such high performance in a large front illuminated area sensor makes the High Quanta family a cost-effective solution," he concludes.

The High Quanta family currently includes three sensors with resolutions of 2084 x 2084, 1044 x 1044 and 524 x 524 and feature a 24 µm size pixel. For those applications demanding ultra violet (UV) sensitivity and >90% QE, back side thinned (BST) devices will be available on a custom basis.

Showcased earlier this month at the Radiological Society of North America show (RSNA), November 25-30, Chicago IL, DALSA's new High Quanta sensors are now available.
