Responding to climate change demands a global effort. Sustainable development is the common goal of more than 180 countries that have signed the Kyoto protocol. Almost all the industrialized countries have committed to reductions in their collective greenhouse gas emissions by 2008-2012.
DNV has been a member of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) since 1999 and is a signatory to the Global Compact. DNV is committed to helping clients work towards sustainable products and systems, offering a wide range of services under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) umbrella. In DNV's strategy plan, CSR is one of ten corporate priority areas. The DNV CSR action plan focuses on the following areas:
