New Programmable Servo Drive Simplifies Repetitive Movement
ElectroCraft announces the addition of a 4-Quadrant, programmable motion control Servo Drive to their product line offering for customers looking for a servo drive that does not require a secondary controller. The DSV405 Drive uses constant current bi-polar chopping with full on board programmability to effectively drive and control Brushless Direct Current (BLDC) motor applications. Rated at 12-40 VDC input and 5 amps continuous output, the DSV405 can be configured to operate in Position, Velocity and Torque modes.
Eight I/O ports allow the DSV405 to receive and respond to signals from switch closures and openings along with optocoupler outputs. This allows the controller to start and stop a motor based on switch closures or interruption of an optocoupler beam.
The drive's programming capability reduces cost by eliminating the need for a secondary controller. The easy to use programming language allows the user to create and store motion profiles including acceleration, deceleration, hold and run current, position targets, and slew velocity. Other simple commands let the user respond to input signals from the external system and drive secondary devices such as relays or solenoids based on the needs of the system. Programming can be performed in HyperTerminal environment or via a downloadable windows GUI.
The DSV405 is ideally suited for applications where simple, reliable, cost-effective motion control is required. Typical applications include chemical test stations, dispensing equipment, feed and cut, and multi-axis lifts.
