The use of microprocessors has extended to four (4) product Series from Dart:

• MicroDrive Series closed loop DC drives
• ASP Series closed loop interface (used with any* DC or AC drive)
• DP4 Series digital speed potentiometer
• BLM Series BLDC MicroDrive (coming soon!)

The microprocessor provides Dart development engineers with the flexibility to add product features and customer specific configurations without making hardware changes. In doing so one or more traditional panel control elements may be eliminated - this is where the Installed Cost savings these products offer comes into play.

For example - the MicroDrive is an integrated DC drive and programmable digital display with configurable timer, counter and alarm functions. The MicroDrive incorporates in a single unit the functionality of traditionally individual DC drive, digital display, On/Run/Off lamps, On-Off switch, counter module or timer module, relay(s), power supply, step-down transformer, and signal isolator. Eliminating one or more of these components not only saves their cost but also panel space, installation labor and procurement expense.

Dart MD Plus Series Product Award Finalist

DESIGN NEWS has awarded the Dart MD Plus Series with a BEST PRODUCT- FINALIST for 2009 in the Motion Control / Automation category. DN's Golden Mousetrap Award highlights "the best and brightest engineering innovations of the past year, as well as creativity in product design".

The MD PLUS is a field-programmable closed loop DC drive system employing an advanced velocity-form PID algorithm for accurate motor speed / process loop control. The MD PLUS is ideally suited for metering pump, blending, process oven, parts washer and other applications where the final driven element is a DC motor. The MD PLUS includes two field-programmable Form C relay contacts that may be configured to indicate a wide variety of conditions such as motor is running, "fault" conditions, and other information.

The combined functionality of the MD PLUS saves installation cost and space. The configurable modes (Master, Time, Ratio) allow one device to be used in multiple applications. This simplifies the end user experience and field support of delivered systems.
