144" AWWA BUTTERFLY VALVES for New Orleans

In the wake of hurricane Katrina, the City of New Orleans was faced with an overwhelming task of rebuilding. the Army Corp of Engineers was also tasked with making sure that the flooding of New Orleans due to hurricanes could never happen again. A massive project was begun and is continuing to add and modify pumping stations to pump storm surge water from the drainage canals to Lake Pontchartrain.
One of these projects included four motorized 144" diameter butterfly valves manufactured by DeZURIK. The DeZURIK 144" AWWA Butterfly Valve and actuator assemblies weight approximately 40 tons each and stand over 17 feet high.
