When an international telecommunications company was faced with a challenging need to rapidly and reliably support their distribution channel, they called on Eagle Design Group. The problem was how to reduce costs on a technically complex, difficult to manufacture cable assembly requiring stringent shielding. The technical issues were further compounded by the logistical need to meet the delivery demands of varying lengths and quantities to clients requiring impossibly short lead times.

The EDG approach to this project was to take a practical look at the manufacturing issues and specifications required to meet the customer's demands. By designing a new connector back shell that could be assembled mechanically, EDG was able to eliminate a major bottleneck in the production process requiring costly materials and machine time while improving the yield typically associated with an over-molding operation. Working closely with their client's engineering group, EDG was able to provide a mechanical hood that meets the same low profile envelope, while reducing the labor times involved in manufacturing.
