The machine safety sensors from elobau are now also available in the maximum protection class IP69K according to DIN 40050. IP69K combines the protection classes IP6X (highest possible protection against permeation of dust) and IPX9K (highest possible protection against permeation of water, even for beam pressures of 100 bar and temperatures of 80 °C). Due to the fully cast electronics – as well as long lasting experience with different casting compounds – elobau was able to ensure that the new sensors are 100 % waterproof, even under the most adverse conditions. They have passed a multi stage series of tests in which they were also tested for IP65 and IP67. The reason for that is that starting from IP66, the preceding protection classes are not necessarily included. The power of the IP69K stainless steel sensors is especially apparent in heavily contaminated machines. The sensors do not have to be build in hidden anymore since they are now able to withstand a high pressure cleaning. The models 171 of the sensor are available as contact maker/breaker or contact maker/maker systems. The core of a 171 sensor is a magnetically actuated switching element which is tamper-proof due to a coding. With a length of 44 mm and a round enclosure with M30 diameter the sensor is especially small and easy to mount. Due to the sensing distance of 7 mm it is especially suited for the monitoring of protection doors and hatches. The sensor can be applied in a temperature range of -25 to +75 °C. The sanitary version of the magnet conforms to the European standard CEN/TC 153/HN108E.
