Product Announcement from Emerson Network Power Embedded Computing
The three VME processor boards from Emerson Network Power - the MVME5500, introduced in 2002, the MVME6100 (2004) and MVME3100 (2006) - are used in industrial automation, medical imaging, military and other applications. Emerson Network Power is guaranteeing production availability of all three boards, which feature Power Architecture processors from Freescale Semiconductor, until at least 2016 and has the capability to extend the life span even further depending on customer demand.
The new commitment to an extended product life span follows a re-design which has replaced certain obsolete components with newer, functionally-equivalent parts. The board respin is transparent to customers, which need make no change to production tooling to accept the new versions.
Emerson Network Power has also introduced a new variant of the MVME6100, featuring 2GB DDR memory. The original 1GB version continues to be available.
