NEMA is an electrical industry trade association. Their focus is on the development of product standards, government affairs and market economics. There are 10 types of enclosure ratings under NEMA: 1, 2, 4, 4X, 5, 6, 6P, 12, 12K, and 13.

IP testing (Ingress Protection Testing) is designed to certify a product's resistance to the intrusion and/or ingress by foreign objects as defined by the standard.

There are 16 types of IP tests: IP0X, IP1X, IP2X, IP3X, IP4X, IP5X, IP6X, IPX0, IPX1, IPX2, IPX3, IPX4, IPX5, IPX6, IPX7, IPX8.
