KANSAS CITY, Mo. (September 2005) — Once again, Fairbanks Scales, global leader in the weighing industry, has designed a product to meet its customers' specific needs.

One of the world's premier providers of shipping and information services was looking for a way to optimize their shipping efficiency and validate package weights. The company asked several vendors to provide in-motion package weighing system that could accurately weigh packages at speeds of 245 feet/min while having some specific on-board diagnostics. All vendors installed a prototype system to prove the feasibility of the goals that this customer was trying to achieve.

Of all of the test systems, 4, the Fairbanks FB 3000 based system performed the most reliable and provided the customer positive results to improve their operations. After about 1 year of testing, the customer was ready to put the system out to bid with the stipulation that the system would have to become NTEP approved. Fairbanks won the bid and pressed forward. On August 29, 2005, Fairbanks obtained NTEP on the system. This is another first for Fairbanks!! No other manufacturer has a 100 lb box scale that is NTEP approved for this type of application.

This system will soon be released as a standard product and should provide another great product for the Fairbanks product line. Even though this system focuses on the transportation industry, the main aspect is on material handling, making it a great product for warehouses, parcel shipping and distribution and the food processing to package bulk goods.
