FARO Increases Versatility with 3-D, Non-Contact Measurement Device First introduced in 2003, the FARO Laser ScanArm V2 was the first-ever seven-axis contact/non-contact measurement device with a fully integrated laser scanner. Unlike other scanning systems, the FARO ScanArm's hard probe and Laser Line Probe can digitize interchangeably without having to remove either component. Users can accurately measure prismatic features with the Arm's hard probe, then laser scan sections requiring larger volumes of data — without adding or removing attachments, untangling cabling, or having to use a separate CMM to import the data.
The ScanArm's seventh axis affords further flexibility and has been designed for the integration of the laser line scanning probe. The extra degree of freedom allows for optimum scanner positioning to obtain the best possible data. This extraordinary flexibility and the pistol grip also offer advantages with non-scanning probes. There are no third-party attachments, external electronics, or cables that interfere with the Arm's unlimited articulation ability, so the users get maximum data handling, accuracy and efficiency in an affordable package — rather than the complications of integrating separate technologies. The FARO Laser Line Probe even has an "Auto Material" feature that continuously samples the object's surface and automatically adjusts for optimal scanning. The ScanArm is ideal for non-contact measurement applications including inspection, cloud-to-CAD comparison, rapid prototyping, reverse engineering and 3-D modeling. It directly interfaces to the industry's leading point-cloud inspection and reverse-engineering software. FARO Laser ScanArms are available in Quantum Platinum, and Fusion FaroArm models with 7-axis configurations. Inverted models are also available for mounting upside-down in confined spaces or hard-to-reach areas. The Laser ScanArm is the perfect contact/non-contact measurement system, and the only system you'll need for all of your 3-D digitizing needs. Features
