Product Announcement from Federal Signal Corporation/Industrial Systems
Federal Signal recently announced that it has designed a new model of its versatile multicolor, single-high status indicator, "UniStat", to accommodate Hazardous Area and Type 4X applications. The UniStat model USIX is the first status indicator to meet the Division 2 standard set by the National Electric Code (N.E.C.).
Using the latest L.E.D. (light emitting diode) technology, UniStat USIX can produce up to four colors from a single light source  amber, blue, green, and red  while offering vibration resistance and 100,000 hours of service from the lights. In addition, this unique status indicator offers a choice of four visual flash patterns  steady burn, slow flash, strobe flash, and SimuStobe. SimuStrobe simulates the attention-getting flash rate of a strobe light but with much more color-rich output. By manipulating the wide array of colors and patterns, the user can choose a total of either 12 or 16 possible flash/color combinations, depending on whether he has a three- or four-color model. The product is PLC compatible, making it ideal for use in automated processes, and programmable via remote access.
The UniStat USIX is protected in a durable polycarbonate housing with a dome guard. Because it is made of tough, glass reinforced thermoplastic, the fixture will never corrode and the reinforced mounting feet are the strongest of any nonmetallic fixture available. Each unit arrives pre-assembled and ready to surface mount.
UL Listed, CSA Pending, and CE Compliant, the UniStat USIX has been designed for use in Class I, Division 2, Groups A,B,C,D; Class II, Division 2, Groups F and G; and Class III. With its IP65 enclosure, the USIX is also suitable in Type 4X applications.
