"No Epoxy – No Polish" Fiber Optic Connector for HDTV Cameras The fiber optic connector is technology that makes it now both practical and economical to field-assemble and field-repair HDTV camera connectors anywhere, eliminating the difficult procedure of precisely polishing fiber-optic elements as well as preparing and using special epoxies when using the new Series 1053™ connector. It provides a significantly faster and easier to-terminate solution, just 15-30 minutes, or at least 50% faster than currently available products.

Co-developed in an exclusive partnership with Corning®, the 1053™ series combines the field-tested reliability of Fischer's established broadcast Triax connectors with the proven technology of Corning® UniCam® "No Epoxy – No Polish" fiber-optic contacts. The design of the UniCam® contact used in the 1053™ connector is based on the same contacts, which have been successfully employed in many broadcast industry venues, as well as in high quantities for years in the telecom industry. By incorporating these reliable UniCam® contacts into Fischer's 1051 Triax Connector, Fischer has chosen to base its new HDTV product on a connector body, which has already been widely accepted by the broadcast industry. The Triax Connector line has been a leading standard for the international broadcast Triax market for decades, in conjunction with the more recently introduced 1052 Triax Connector for the American market.

To ensure compatibility with all HDTV broadcast camera manufacturers, the new 1053™ HDTV Camera Connector is SMPTE signal-compliant, employing (2) single-mode fiber contacts, (2) high voltage contacts, and (2) low voltage signal contacts. Elimination of unnecessary optical connections throughout the signal path provides for fewer contacts to clean and a correspondingly lower signal loss.

With its ease of use, true field install-ability, and a lower total installation cost than is possible with presently available solutions, Fischer's new 1053™ HDTV Broadcast Camera Connectors provide the answer many camera manufacturers, mobile truck providers, production centers, and broadcast studios have been waiting for to make the transition to fiber-based HDTV cameras.
