Product Announcement from Fischer Technology, Inc.

Measuring Electrical Conductivity in Aluminum-Image

The electrical conductivity is an important material property that not only gives information about how well a metal conducts electricity but also about its composition, microstructure or mechanical properties. It can be used to draw conclusions about the hardness and strength of heat-treated materials. Heat damage and material fatigue can be identified in this manner as well. The SIGMASCOPE® SMP10 provides excellent features for measuring these characteristics. It can determine the electrical conductivity precisely and quickly.

The SIGMASCOPE® SMP10 is a hand-held instrument which provides rapid, simple and on-the-spot measurement of the conductivity of non-magnetic metals. DataCenter software included with instrument enables the transfer of measurement data easily and quickly; eliminating working with pen and paper.

Typical Applications:

  • Aircraft industry to check for stress and wear in aluminum alloys
  • Distinction between fake or genuine coins
  • Checking electrical conductivity of copper during the production process
  • Thermal sprayed coatings
  • Determination of the phosphorous content in copper
  • Scrap sorting

Fischer offers many certified traceable standards (MS/m, %IACS).
