GGB issues Hi-eX™ designer's handbook
Heilbronn, Germany – GGB, formerly Glacier Garlock Bearings, now offers a 50-page designer's handbook for its Hi-eX™ (HX) metal-polymer bearing material for marginally lubricated applications, such as diesel fuel and gear pumps, hydraulic motors and pumps, agricultural equipment, wind turbines, and yaw and teeter bearings. HX is available
in pre-finished (PM HX) and machinable (MB HX) plain bearings, as well as thrust washers
and strip material. Suitable for rotating, oscillating, reciprocating and sliding movements, the maintenance-free bearings can be used with low-viscosity and low-lubricant fluids, and exhibit good wear and seizure resistance under thin-film conditions. They can withstand high operating temperatures, and provide high load capacity, good chemical resistance and dimensional stability. Covered in the handbook are structure, properties, lubrication and friction, design factors, data sheets for bearing design calculations, tolerances for minimum clearance, installation, machining, electroplating, standard products and test methods.
