At Gateway Laser we produce highly precise components with our laser micromachining capabilities for new applications including Medical Devices: Laser Drilled Catheters.

Catheter hole drilling using lasers is widely used when the hole size required is less than .010" or when patterning holes arrays in multi-lumen catheters. Laser machining provides a fast and highly repeatable hole drilling process with tolerances well below +/-.001". In each case, the combination of catheter material, wall thickness, hole size or geometry of hole arrays have to be carefully evaluated to determine the type of laser system and machining parameters that meet both manufacturing requirements.
