Groschopp planetary gear reducers were engineered to deliver a high torque capacity at a low cost. A new concept in planetary gear reducers, this industrial-grade planetary gear reducer provides "servo-like" speeds, torques and response at a fraction of the cost. Continuous duty torques range from 90 in-lb to 700 in-lb, and peak torque ratings that are three to five times higher than continuous duty ratings, making it a reliable workhorse for demanding material handling needs.

Groschopp's planetary reducers use an extruded aluminum housing that gives the gearmotor a revolutionary new look. In some applications where high-cost, servo-type planetary reducers have been specified for reasons other than exact positioning, Groschopp's planetary reducers will provide power and performance without the high price.

Groschopp offers stand-alone planetary reducers. Planetary reducers are characterized by high torque ratios. Groschopp has developed a planetary gearbox that uses a "floating" sun gear. The reducer consists of a ring gear around three planetary gears and a floating sun gear. Unlike the other planetary gears, which are fixed in place, the sun gear has a toothed central spline loosely fitted onto the shaft spline creating a floating sun gear. A major advantage to the floating sun gear is the lower decibel level - less noise. When the sun gear is clamped to the motor shaft it's fixed solidly, leading to 'rattle' if tolerances vary at all. Thus, it is easy to tell if the gearbox is out of tolerance, also letting you know if the load is distributed evenly between the gears. The quiet operation proves the reducer is functioning properly.

Groschopp's planetary gearbox runs quietly compared to competitors. Floating the sun gear also keeps the gears centered and reduces gear tooth damage.

The planetary reducer has a standard mounting configuration allowing it to mount to virtually any motor with a NEMA 23 or 34 input flange. It is available in a standard or a rugged design. The rugged design is intended to withstand less than ideal conditions such as extreme heat, cold, dust and moisture. The standard design contains powdered metal gears, whereas the rugged design incorporates steel gears. Additionally, Groschopp offers several types of lubrications to serve in a variety of environments.

The sealed gearbox has a compact package and a "nose in" option. Essentially, the nose in option is created by reversing the endbell in order to shrink the package size giving the Planetary gearbox flexibility in design (There is a right angle add-on to create an optional (Right Angle Planetary). The planetary reducers are available in a 7300, frame size options 5:1 - 377:1.
